      Paying sky for line rental....

If I decided to pay Sky for line rental instead of BT, would I incur any charges from BT if I decided to go back to them at a later date?

No, I'm pretty sure they would want you back and not charge you for the privelige.
You should check what contract you are on with BT before leaving, as a lot of people have signed up to 12 month rolling contracts with BT which if you leave they can charge you for the balance of the term.

Thanks for your reply. How would I check what contract I am on with BT? I've had my line rental with them since 2003, just on the basic package.

just use their on-line account query email system and ask them how much notice you have to give to leave and if there are any exit penalties.

You'll get a reply (from India) quite quickly (or at least you usually do).

Also, the new BT contracts are autorenewing rolling ones, ie if you dont tell them before its up for renewal it will be renewed and you are locked in for another 12 months - ed infinitum.

Re: Paying sky for line rental....

Before you move your line rental to Sky, consider the following.
If you have a problem with your BB or sat tv, then you deal with Sky they are not too bad on the tv side of things, but BB can be a nightmare. However their BB service is only for domestic use, and while a problem may take a while to solve, you could always get a dial-up account going for e-mail etc.
Now consider what might happen should your phone line go dead. You are now stuck, do you what to have to deal with Sky and their call centres to sort this?
