    BT Basic...£4.50 line rental....

This is a discussion on BT Basic...£4.50 line rental.... within the Sky Talk forums, part of the Other Sky help and support category; Apparantly this is for people on certain benefits such as Income support, etc. Wonder if SKY will follow their lead? ...

Bt Basic, like the Light User Scheme, runs at a loss it is provided by BT as part of their service to provide telephone service to those who need it, but make few calls and don't get any advantage from other discounts. Light User Scheme customers cannot have Broadband on their lines but I am not sure if this would apply to BT Basic.
I doubt if Sky would be interested in these customers.

Update. You can have Broadband on BT Basic.

Hmm, I not so sure you know. I bet there are quite a lot of people in that bracket who have Sky Talk...pensioners for instance silver surfers.. and if they get to know about this line rental scheme, they would probably desert Sky line rental back to BT, but keep the basic Talk service.
I suppose it would be a case of how many they get deserting back to BT as to whether they implement a similar scheme.

BT Basic will allow a broadband service but will not allow call override services, e.g. 1899 or 18866. Voice calls are expensive, to stop you making many.

Nothing to stop you using SkyPe or similar.

but you still have to pay for non residential calls and when you have went over you 4.50 for the whole 3 months you have to pay 10p a minutes and you cantt have best friend.
if you need the phone for emergencys then get itr but anyhing else stay away
