      Your connection speeds should be higher, typically about 4000kbps down and 448kbps up. I don't think this has anything to do with your CD, but it will increase your speed considerably.

      The 288 on the upload indicates the wrong package, and the download points to the what package you are on. The main difference is the speed on the 500 package this is a slower.

      Give sky a call and say you have a slow speed issue, and maybe on the wrong package from BT's end. Hopefully the agent will be able to pick the problem up and move you straight through to the team to get this sorted for you. It does not take to long to sort this I have done a fair few, and tend to take a day or so.

      It wont solve your caller ID problem, but when they run the test etc it make pick something up.

      Well I rang sky, they said that before they ring BT they will carry out a line test so I had to turn all my connected devices to the router off for 20mins. Which I have done and they said they would get back to me within the 48 hours and contact BT if neccessary. They said they would have a look at the caller ID issue once the broadband has been checked.

      Im putting money on the fact that they will find no fault and say it all seems fine.

      Ill tell you the outcome when I get it.

      Although it is not, strictly speaking, a fault, you are on the wrong package. If they cannot see this without doing a line check then something is wrong. Did you get through to CST or were you saddled with the Tier 1 agents? CST should see immediately that your package is wrong and get that corrected first. BT seem to take great delight in messing Sky's customers around.

      Sky got back to me today after running the test and said that they have detected a fault on the line and therefore have forwarded the matter on to BT and it should hopefully be resolved within the next couple of days!
      Keeping my fingers crossed here

      I hope so too! I did make that point clear on the phone also and the woman was insistant that I was wrong as she thought I was on about the Sky Packages Base, Mid, Max and Connect although I clearly was saying about BT!
      Oh well if they dont do anything about it, I will be ringing back!

      Thought you might like to know that it now looks like BT have been sorting out my line and my speeds are now as follows:

      Connection Speed 1568 kbps 448 kbps
      Line Attenuation 56 db 15.5 db
      Noise Margin 7 db 17 db

      A damn site better than what I was on before! Still though as you said it hasnt fixed my caller ID problem. Now the speed is out the way, any ideas to as what could be the problem with the caller ID? It is still only when the router is turned on that it doesnt work.

      You will be on a 10 day training period now that you are on the correct package. I recommend re-syncing with the exchange at least once per day by turning of the power to the router for a minute, then turning it on.

      Following our previous message exchanges I have solved the Caller ID problem!

      I ordered a new microfilter from ADSL-Filters.co.uk, an XF-1e ADSL Nation Microfilter at 8.49.and it works!!!!
