      Well you did warn me.

Posted on here a few weeks ago saying that I was switching to Sky Talk but still had a 'live' BT contract. Someone replied saying I might get billed by BT for the termination seeing as it was before teh contract was up.

Yep - just got it 128.16!!!!

What I am REALLY annoyed at is that I received a letter from BT saying 'how sorry they were to see me go' blah blah blah and that's it. NO INDICATION OF ANY TERMINATION CHARGES.

Then 3 weeks later I get my final bill for 128.16 and notice my line has been terminated. I have never authorised this myself

A 30 minute call to India (sorry BT call center) has got me no where. My argument is that they should have sent me prior notification of termination fees. If they had then I would not have transfered yet. Apparently that is not their policy though!

Oh and to rub salt into the wounds Sky are charging me line rental. LOL.

Re: Well you did warn me.

I think the termination clause would be in the original contract. I have heard that Sky refund the cost of getting a BT line in, but I have no personal knowledge. It may be worth phoning their Customer Relations and see if you can get anything out of it. Or wait for comment from someone who has done this. Don't phone Support as they will not be able to help. At least with Sky Talk, your calls will be free

Re: Well you did warn me.

that is the funny thing bt retail able to cut off a line that is now with a different retail provider.

My sister is on orange line rental and had a unpaid BT bill, guess what the line is cutoff although her broadband luckily still works.

That is a bit strange, both services come down the same line, if the line was cut off the broadband would not work. Maybe she should contact Orange and ask what is going on. If they collect the rental then they are responsible. Is she on a Orange LLU exchange?

Re: Well you did warn me.

Phone and broadband are 2 different services.

You can have no phone but still have adsl on the line.

Agreed, but if the line is cut off you would not get anything, not even a dial tone.

Re: Well you did warn me.

There's a differance between having the phone services removed and having the line totally disconnected.

I think the line is active (adsl on the line) but the phone service has been removed.

Re: Well you did warn me.

yeah I thought was weird also but seems its not a full cutoff.

Basically if she tries to dial out she is redirected to BT (still has dial tone), if try to ring in get a invalid number message.

Re: Well you did warn me.

BT has disabled the line call wise. A simple call to 151 or accounts should help to resolve it.

Re: Well you did warn me.

The problem seems to be that although the rental is with Orange, BT have cut it off due to an unpaid bill. What I find strange is that they have left the broadband on.
