      Interference on Phone Line

I have recently switched from Virgin to Sky and have the Sky TV, broadband and sky talk. Since my phone and internet went active (on the same day) I have a constant interference sound on my phone. I have the microfilters in each of my phone sockets (3) so cant understand why I am getting this interference. Two of the phone sockets just have phones attached to them and the third just has the broadband (there is no phone in the room where the computer is).

Has anyone had this problem before?

Does the noise go when you turn off the router. If it does not, plug into the Test socket and see if the noise is still present. If it is, phone BT or whoever you pay your rental to and tell them you have noise on your phone line. It is not advisable to mention broadband. Who many hard-wired sockets do you have? Hard-wired is wired directly into the line box, as opposed to the plug in type.

How long have you been connected to the phone line? It can take a few days to 'settle'.

Yes, the noise is only present when the router is on, but I have a microfilter attached to the socket, so cant understand it. I have only been with broadband for a week now so perhaps it is still in the "settling in" period.
      Thanks for your response.

If you have just got Sky, the TV fitter has probably plugged in the Sky TV box, using a splitter. Make sure this is plugged into a filter and not plugged directly into the socket.

      Re: Interference on Phone Line

The sky fitter put a double adapter thing into my telephone line, is that what you mean by a splitter? I have attached one of the microfilters to that and then have my phoneline plugged in to that - is that where the problem is?

It could be, take out the splitter, plug in the filter then plug the extension into that.
