      Free phonecalls to sky

      Hello,

I'm shortly going to be a sky customer, I am moving from virgin media to sky, however need to pay bt the line rental for 12 months and get sky talk with sky.

So if I have sky talk, I gather skys 084 numbers just don't show up on the bill? Or do I have to have sky line rental as well?

      Re: Free phonecalls to sky

If you are on either Sky Talk Freetime (free) or Sky Talk Unlimited (5/month), either as a CPS package (sensibly leaving your line rental with BT) or with line rental handed over to Sky, Sky's 0844 and 0870 numbers should be free for you to call.

However, in either case, the trade-off is the outrageous increases Sky has made to its charges for calls to 0845 and non-Sky 0870 numbers - Sky is now the most expensive calls provider for those.

However, if you just use Sky Talk as your CPS calls provider, you can, of course, use the 1280 prefix to hop back onto BT for such calls.

Better still, mix and match with 18185 depending on the day/time of day to get the best rates.

Or go the whole hog and entirely review your voice telephony use - see HERE.

Nice review Heinz. Much appreciated. You can also try finding a geographic land-line number and so have a free call. Look at SAYNOTO0870.COM - Non-Geographical Alternative Telephone Numbers and enter either the name of the company you are calling or the telephone number you want an alternative to.

Hi, I currently use say no to 0870 for these numbers, I was just wondering if sky was offering these free for there phone numbers, as there are quite a lot of lines on 0870 :P. We are going to get sky talk unlimited.

You must have missed the final paragraph in the link I gave earlier:
Free calls to Sky contact centres from 1st July 2008:
All calls to Sky call centres will be free from 1st July 2008 for SkyTalk customers (eg all calls to Sky's 0870 and 0844 numbers).
So, the answer appears to be, "Yes" - but I wouldn't put it past Sky to move the goalposts and argue that some of their numbers are for specific departments and are not to call centres so they can charge!

Frankly after the complete muck up that was our BB install I refuse to move any more services, Sky phoned us up a couple of times about Sky talk, once while we were stuck in "pending cancellation" and we said we'd sign up if they could get that lifted, oh dear they couldn't and I use that each time they bug me now to sign over to them.
I'm a PC, and Windows 7 Backup saved my sanity when BitDefender imploded !!!

Just moved to Sky+, Mid Broadband and Unlimited SkyTalk and everything work correctly the first time and the changes were made on time.

      Perhaps I am just lucky!
