      Hanging in the middle - Neither with Sky nor with BT :(

      I cancelled Sky Talk Free and expected to be with BT for calls. After a month from cancellation started getting the message "Your service is currently been restricted. Contact Sky customer service". And, I am unable to make calls using BT line without prefixing 1280.

      I contacted Sky customer service - they said that they have cancelled SkyTalk and I must ask BT to take me onboard. I spoke to BT. BT said that Sky has not cancelled the line and there is nothing that they could do to enable me to make calls without 1280 prefix.

      BT says that the fact that I am prefixing 1280 shows that Sky is to blame.
      Sky says that the fact I am getting the error messge shows that SKy has cancelled SkyTalk.

      Neither party is budging and I am caught in between. Any ideas how to break the deadlock? I am fed up spending hours on the phone explaining the problem over and over only to be kicked around various departments.

      I have the reverse problem. I'm with Sky Talk and it works OK but BT insist on charging me for the calls as well. BT won't budge. I'm waiting for the end of my min 12 month contract with BT and then I'll move the line rental to Sky (this facility effective 1/11/07) so I have one supplier.

      I also have a similar problem with British Gas, who are not my supplier, who send me Quarterly Bills and are threatening to cut me off when I'm in fact a Scottish Power customer.

      The underlying problem is the whole concept of Call Centres. Things worked well until these were introduced. Call Centres are expensive, achieve nothing, and cause more problems than they solve.

      My experience with Sky is they are better than BT and British Gas. But that's not saying much.
