Stupid questions I know but I am at work and have just thought of them

      Cheers

      Mis

You have to make a couple of calls a month via BT to continue to have free caller display, otherwise they will bill you.
Call prefix is 1280 to route the call via BT.

THIS is the cheap workaround to keep (nearly) free Caller Display and 1571.

And THIS is the link you need to BT's online form to cancel 1571 (i.e. without having to hang on the phone for ages).

I got a bill from BT last month and it contained this charge. So I phoned up and complained because when I added it on the BT website it said "Free" and never mentioned anything about having to pay if you dont make a minimum number of BT calls. Which isnt possible if you have Sky Talk.

Yes it is - if your line rental (and hence your Caller Display) is still with BT.

As per my workaround - dial a 1280 prefix for the necessary number of calls.

Okay, I am getting a little confused.

      Is the caller display free?

      Is the answer woman free?

My line rental is still with BT.

No, they cost 9p per month.

      heinz,

      Thanks for the help.

Just to clarify - Caller Display and 1571 are chargeable.

I have tried to remove them from my account online but I do not seem to be able to do this

Does this mean I have to request the removal via that form you gave a link to?

I describe them as 'nearly free' but, yes, you have to pay for at least 9p worth of calls each month to get them 'free'.

I've never tried to cancel Caller Display (I find it too useful) but, having been unable to 'untick' 1571 via BT's My Account system, have cancelled 1571 using that online form.
