      No caller ID with SKy Line Rental

      I switched my calls to sky talk sometime back, but kept the line rental with BT.

      Now due to BT charging for the privilege of using Caller-ID I switched my line rental to sky, as they promised free caller id and free 1571.

      However since we switched caller ID no longer works. I've made two (expensive) calls to the 0870 tech number with no joy.

      Does anyone else with Sky line rental have this working ok?

      regards,

      greg

      Hello Greg,

      Yes I have caller ID working with my Sky Talk, I rang up to drop my TV package and asked about it then, the person I was talking to transfered me through to the correct department and they sent an e mail, I don't know who to but I was told caller ID would be on the line within 72 hours and sure enough it was.

      Good luck, I hope you get what you want.

      Jo

      I have been waiting for SKY line rental. Any details would be welcome. How come it is not being advertised.

      1st edit. Found details. Had chat about it with Sky. Thought I was uptodate but obviously not!!!

      Is there a link with details?

      Exactly how much is it and what are the benefits over BT?

      Re: No caller ID with SKy Line Rental

      IIRC, the advantages are:

      (1). Only having one bill (incredibly, some people consider that important);
      (2). 10/month line rental instead of 10.50/month;
      (3). Free Caller Display (BT requires you to make at least 2 chargeable calls per month [2 x 4.5p evening or weekend UK 01/02 calls of less than an hour would do] via them to get it 'nearly free').

      However, in view of other posts on this thread, perhaps (3) should be called a 'possible advantage' instead!

      Sky.com - Sky Products>Phone>Prices and Options

      Sky.com - Sky Products>Phone>Switching to Sky>Sky Talk Line Rental

      I advise lashing out the extra 59p/month, leaving your line rental with BT and. if you think one of the Sky Talk packages is right for you, just using Sky Talk as your CPS provider.

      Well it started working last night

      For me it's cheaper than BT, esp now they charge for the privilege of caller ID using BT.

      Free caller ID is available with BT - take a look at:
      BT Privacy at Home | Personal | BT.com

      So, far from being free, it now costs 9p per month (see post #5 above).

      That assumes you remember to play by their silly, changeable overnight rules, otherwise it costs significantly more.
