    phone problem

      phone problem

      just changed to sky talk and the changeover happened last night. i now have an awful crackling sound on the line and it often cuts off, sometimes several times in a few minutes and you have to keep ringing back. this has never happened before yesterday when sky took over.
      any ideas

      Are you just using Sky Talk as your CPS calls provider or have you also surrendered your line rental to Sky as well?

      line rental is still via bt. also have big issues with bb now as well and my d/l have dropped from 800kbps to under 30kbps. both phone and bb(not with sky) keep cutting out during use and web surfing is very annoying due to slow speeds.

      Do a test call using the 1280 prefix (I'd suggest a 4p evening or weekend call of less than an hour to a UK 01 or 02 number) and check whether the crackles are still present.

      If so, report the line fault to BT (151).

      it now appears fixed and amazingly it was just a coincidence that it all started playing up when sky took over. the problem was actually my master socket and after having a new one fitted by a mate who works for bt all is well again.
