Be gentle with me, first time and all that.
      I currently have the following
      Phone: BT Option 1 (30/month)
      Broadband: BT (17.99/month)
      TV: SKY (53.00/month)

I am seriously looking at the total package from SKY but seem to only see negative responses on other sites so when I saw this one I thought, great they will have feedback. The only problem is that I cannot see where to look.
Please can anyone help me to see users such as yourself give an honest opinion of the whole package so that I can make a judgement.

Thanks in anticipation, looks a great site and lots of useful information.

Re: I want the lot, but ?????

      Hi.

I've had SKY+ for a year now and think it's pretty good. SKY do have some bugs with their system which they seem to be unable to resolve but, overall the service, in my opinion is superior to that of Telewest or Freeview for TV. Picture quality is much better. I use the SKY+ box with a Samsung LCD TV and think it's very good, despite not being HD. I've extended the picture to my upstairs TV using RF cable and a magic eye and again, it's pretty good quality.

I've got SKY Talk Freetime which costs me no subscription and it's good. Any evening and weekend calls are free, and like I said, I don't pay a subscription for this.

I moved to SKY Broadband from Virgin a little earlier this month. I get a 4mbit connection which isn't brilliant but, my download rates are much higher than when I was on Virgin.net... and it only costs me 5 per month. (D/L speed for torrents is around 3mbit for me). Moving to SKY BB did have some problems in that I lost my phone service. SKY were of little help and I had to chase BT to sort out the issue. Ultimately though, when this was done, I phoned SKY told them I wasn't happy at that, asked for my 30 activation fee back, and they did it without any hassle.

So, customer service is often quite good. When my mum got her stuff installed, she had some problems, in the end after a few conversations, she got a refund for her SKY+ box + Installation... i.e. 99 + 49! No other company that I've encountered has ever given a refund of that amount back.

So, despite a hatred for Mr. Murdoch, SKY's service is actually pretty good.

The problem this website, like nearly all websites that try to help people, is that the majority of posts on here are by people whi have had a problem of some sort or another.

You can try the section of the forum:
Sky happiness - Sky User - The unofficial support forum for everything Sky!

Personally, yeah I had a few issues to start with, with my BB from sky, but as soon as they got sorted out my connection has been great. Only worry now is if I have to have VM when I move house later this month..

Always looking to save money with kids spending too freely.

Thanks guys for the great advice and also the good words and the link to the Sky Happiness site. It appears that there are quite a few people having a good experience with SKY, once the initial set up has been overcome.

Any more advice that anyone has to offer will be great, experiences etc.

      Cheers

have had sky for 10 years now, currently have the mid package with sky+ and despite a few problems over the years have nothing very critical to say about them. True their customer service leaves much to behold, but overall they do offer value for money and a try to do their best. You will save money on any package you decide to have , just check this site for links to what speeds your line is capable of handling and whether it is LLU enabled to decide what your best deal is.

I bought the TV-6mixes phone and broadband, 25.99 a month and it is superb. I would go into great detail but really I don't need to. It is simply worth every penny.

Re: I want the lot, but ?????

Well it seems a no brainer really then.

Any advice on what to do prior to me getting the full package, I know I need the MAC code to transfer from BT but is there anything else.
I presently do not have wireless but do have a laptop as well as my PC, is there something I need to watch out for?

Looks like I am going to be able to eat again thanks to some great advice from you guys/gals...my children will be singing 'eidelweiss' soon...
