      My first sky talk bill.....confused

I've just checked my first sky 24/7 bill. The phone calls are as follows

      Mobile 1.09
      NGN 0.20
      Sub total 1.29
      Vat 0.23
sky talk tariff inc vat 2.57
      Total 4.09

What is the sky talk tariff charge for? I thought i paid my 5.00 per month and that was it accept mobiles and ngn's

I've just thought what it is. The 2.57 is for approx 15 days as only switched over from mid Apr 07
Just looked at my full statement and no mention of the 5.00 fee. The next bill will include the full 5.00 plus calls..............................brain explosion !!!

yes that is a little discouraging to see.

I am dreading mine i've been ringing alot of 0800 numbers and i cannot find anywhere on the site to suggest they are indeed freephone

i'd rather go back to BT if not as i cannot expect my family to remember 1270 everytime they want to ring a 08/05 number

i have found info that says that 08/ is chargeable - but also reference to "free" No Charge and "unlimted" numbers - it's all so confusing!

      Sky Talk Unlimited

      Unlimited UKı landline calls 24/7
Unlimited calls to 10 popular international destinations²
Calls to UK mobiles are 25% lower than BT Together Option 1
All other international numbers are 5% lower than BT Together Option 1
All other calls are charged the same as BT – so there are no hidden charges there!

It is £5 a month. Have you been billed part of the month becasue your Skytalk was connected half way through your normal billing period?

e.g. If you get billed on the 30th of the month for SKy TV and Sky talk started on the 15th of the month then you only owe them half the amount.

Pete C see http://www.sky.com/Assets/PDF/StaticFiles/475310.PDF under Non Geographical numbers.

"All other non-geographical numbers are charged at BT standard rate".

Standard rate for BT on 0800 numbers is FREE.

Yea, i kinda worked out that i was connected half way through the the month, hence the 2.57 charge and not 5.00.
I am more than pleased with the package. I thought i was getting charged 5.00 and another 2.57. Thanks

I checked mine through the sky box, using the remote

      1. select interactive
      2. select option 5, customer services
      3. select statement and follow instructions.

Another point worth pointing out is SKYTALK calls are FREE unlike BT and Virgin's supposed same service.

BT free calls are all charged a connection fee of 5.5p per call Virgin 4.8p say you make 10 calls per day it soon adds up.
