BT's 'call set-up fee' (which replaced their 5.5p minimum call charge on 1/10/06) is 3p incl. VAT.

The 'call set-up fee' does not apply to freephone calls or
to zero-rated calls included in BT Together Option 2 and 3.

Neither does it apply to Evening and Weekend UK geographic calls of up to an hour for Option 1 customers (which are still charged at a flat rate of 5.5p).

I try to make (hopefully useful) recommendations to people using standard landlines but know far too little about VOIP to offer any opinion.

it's a good alternative - and these days most calls on the internet are free - no need to pay a penny.

Are you referring to a billl to show Sky talk, sky tv or both.

I only ever started receeiving bills if my monthly subs varied, say that I bought a box office movie or since I registered for Sky Talk.

Before this I never received a bill because the amount was always the same.
I didn't get a bill on TV or post, but now I get both because I have Sky talk.

We never got paper statements - however we do now as I went onto Interactive Services where you can view your statements (including call charges) and request from there that they send you a paper copy.

Thanks for the reminder JED. Just did that.
Especially as BT keep sending me offers to go back.
Another one this morning, so I will be watching
      my Sky bill carefully.
