      Sky Sports Golf problem

Several times now my SKY box (latest 2TB version) has suddenly dropped the end of a recording of golf, hence having ploughed through about four or more hours I suddenly find a message in mid transmission 'recording ended' or something similar. There are NO clashes, and it isn't after a hand-back to the studio to say CBS or the Golf Channel had dropped transmission. Still about 35% of disk space available, and I am not aware of it happening on any other recordings - albeit none are as long. Films e.g. are all OK.

      Any thoughts folks?

      Cheers

There was an old problem whereby there is a max recording time. For some sports event this would be a problem. I can't remember what the limit was or if this issue still exists but worth seeing if it cuts off at say 4hrs.

      Thanks for that,

I think one recording made it further, but it is a very abrupt end to the recording. I looked to see if there was a section in the tools/settings but couldn't see anything relating to time.

Is there a workaround that you know of?

      Cheers and thanks

You could always split the programme in half & set 2 separate manual recordings.

I don't know if the golf is prone to over running or not though.
Adding enough extra time on to the 2nd one to cover all eventualities could prove tricky if drive space is at a premium.

I always thought that there was a feature which prevented the sky box from recording something too long, like those 'this is channel...' EPG entries that run during the early hours.

It appears i was wrong though as it only seems to affect BBC channels & prevents the setting of reminders too.

Channel 410 - Eurosport HD has an entry for tonight 12:35am - 7:30am which can be set to record.
At almost 7 hours this may prove to be a good test of whether a limit does exist or not & if so, what that limit is.

US Open this weekend so I'll see what happens - otherwise I'm wondering who to contact in SKY, as I seem to the only one experiencing this at the moment.

      Cheers

Might be better to set it up to record manually. Services>Options>Manual Record and set up your time.

Many thanks - haven't used that before so will give it a whirl - though the end of tournaments is a bit unpredictable!
