      ESPN 3 month upgrade...with a catch?

The 3 month free isn't quite correct.
The small print says you need 31 days notice to cancel costing you minimum 9
(=31 DAYS) viewing before cancellation comes into effect)
If you cancel before the 3 months is up (i.e. 31 days before they will charge you for all you have viewed so far - (up to 27 for three months).

So if like me you intended to upgrade as a trial......but after 3 months don't see the benefit ...they will charge you a minimum of 9 (=31 DAYS) for the privilege.

Bit of a con really - if they said upfront 3 months free if you stick with but not if you don't then It would be more honest.

(btw - if i have misunderstood this please let me know as I could cope with 3 months espy free with no onward commitment)

This is the Sky Advisor's answer to your allegation as posted on the official Sky forum..
Hi, to avoid being charged for ESPN you would need to give 31 days notice before the end of the offer. What the small print means is that if you changed another aspect of your package during the offer period it would invalidate the ESPN offer and you would be charged for ESPN from that point.
