No it will not be cheaper to any consumers, it will just put more money in Virgins bank account.

To be honest I think it is ridiculous that one commercial company should be forced to sell their product to a competitor at a price lower than they want. Let the competitor set up their own sports channel if they think they are being charged too much.

If (like there is talk about) Virgin offere it in their XL package then I can see many people leaving Sky.

Exactly! They say it is to allow more competition but I see it as reducing the competition as there is no incentive for anyone else to produce programs if they can 'steal' them from Sky. Its a bit like the FA saying to Manchester United 'you will sell Rooney and Ferdinand to West Ham very cheaply to create more competition'.

Re: Will sky sports to us be cheaper?

It amazes me how other companies can moan and then get Ofcom to do their dirty work.

BT invested in their network and brought us a very good telephone service normally.

VM invested in their cable network and brought us a fairly good broadband and TV service

Sky invested in all of the above as well as the kit to deliver a brilliant choice of TV programmes, Sport, Dramas, Broadband, HD etc etc

The only difference that I can see is that Sky actually used the revenues it had raised by charging us for what we receive, and then invested it into making it one of the most hi-tech companies around.

Now BT and VM want to get that 'quality' on the cheap, because imo they couldn't be bothered building up a decent enough portfolio of products, or they didn't have the foresight that Sky had.

People moan about Sky and the pricing, but that's the same in any other aspect of life. The difference is Sky did the job properly in the first place.

Ofcom are absolutely useless and I feel that their decision is totally unfair to BSkyB - They should have told BT and VM to shut up and stop acting like little babies. If these two companies wanted the same quality of available services, they should go and build their own studios, invest in their own kit, and then pay the asking prices for the rights of TV programmes and sports fixtures alike.

Does every single post you make have to be about slagging Sky off?

I understood that you were unhappy when I read your first one.

Good for you! You want it a t 12 while we on Sky have to pay 18

Sky's wholesale price will be a fraction of what it charges viewers, so you are being shafted by Virgin, not Sky.

Crazy how Ofcom handles itself, it sticks it's nose where it's not wanted yet when it's needed, like Sky not handling MAC requests properly, it's a much use as a chocolate teapot.

How can this be "good for competition" when VM operates a private network and refuses access to anybody else but themselves.

More morey for Richard Branson I suppose.
