Offer: Sky Sports and Sky Movies Half price for 3 months

      Hello,

I phoned sky on Friday (8.5.09) regarding a billing issue. The customer service representative was very helpful. After resolving my issue, she offered me sky sports and movies half price for 3 months as a goodwill gesture. I did not take the offer straightaway, instead requested her to make a note of it on the system so that I can call back to take the offer. She said she would make a note and I can call anytime to take the offer. Next day I phoned sky twice and on both occasion the adviser informed me there was no note on the system and they would not be able to offer me the deal. The first person said this is normally offered when sky phones people for upgrade. The second person said the best he can do is offer me 20% off for 6months.

Is there anything else I can do to get the above deal? I would really appreciate any advice on the above.

I would try ringing Sky and go through to cancellations, calmly state your case and ask for what you have been offered. Cancellations seem to have the power to do deals.

I asked them last week to do a free service call as my Thomson HD box was failing out of warranty, and no one apart from Cancellations was interested. I got my free service call, and it was replaced yesterday with a Samsung HD box, absolutely FOC - The box was out of warranty, but I merely stated, that I should expect a longer life span than 15 months out of an electrical item that cost me 200 when new.

Thanks for your advice. I'm still under one year contract which is due to end in November'09 and I have sky basic tv package with two mixes, broadband connect and skytalk freetime. In my circumstances am I eligible to cancel? I don't know what to say to them. Please put some more light onto this issue. Thank you very much.

You don't need to cancel, I never did, it just seems that that department has all the clout for all the discounts. Have a chat with them, the worst that can happen is they say no.

I called Sky half an hour ago. I explained my situation and the person I spoke to could not do anything as there was no note on the system. Then I asked him to transfer me to the cancellations , so he did. But the section for people under 12 month contract was closed, the are open til 8.00 pm. Will try again tomorrow and let you guys know the outcome. Thanks so much for your advice.

Re: Offer: Sky Sports and Sky Movies Half price for 3 months

Phoned sky few days ago and talked to cancellation department. They could not give the offer I was quoted as there was no offer as such in the system at the moment. He even spoke to his manager but came up with the same answer. He gave me the ID of the person who gave me the offer initially and email address of sky, and suggested me to write to them explaining the situation. I wrote to mysky@bskyb.com on 12th may and still awaiting their reply.

Is there anything else I can do?

I would send a recorded delivery mail, e-mails tend to go unread or get lost in the net.

Re: Offer: Sky Sports and Sky Movies Half price for 3 months

Had a call from sky today. They upgraded my package and added sky sports and movies with two mixes. Full package price is 43 but I'll be paying 21.50 for 3 months. I would be allowed to downgrade anytime after first month.

Thanks everyone for your help and comments.

We get Sky installed on Sunday and can't wait! Do you think they will offer us a special deal such as this so early on?

I desperately want Sky Sports but can only afford it from August onwards.

I very much doubt you will get an offer so early on as usually you have to be with them for a certain length of time and then it only applies if you haven't had any other offers on your account for a certain period of time.
