      Sports 1, 2 and 3 - Choose Which - and Change Them

I currently subscribe to Sky Sports 1 purely for the Cricket - (yes you can just have 1 Sports selection, it includes SS3 and saves 6/month over the full Sports Package - 8 from Sept. 07).

On Thursday 9th August, the 3rd England/India test match starts and is due to last 5 days.

Sky have sheduled cricket for Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th to be shown on SS2 and this is not the first time this has happened this year.

During the West Indies tour, the cricket went to SS2 on four days - I had to listen on radio.

Today, I phoned Sky on another matter and mentioned this scheduling.

The operator arranged for SS2 to be available to me on those two days. He said it was no problem to switch the channels over and back again on the Monday, so long as it was not a downgrade. I was amazed.

      Thanks for this Jennifer!

I was debating whether to add SS2 to get the whole Sports Mix but it looks as though I can now pick and choose.

I don't know about the other time they did this but the reason behind it this time might be because of the start of the football season and on those days Sky are showing a few live games.

Yes you are correct - live football. But the cricket they have taken off is live too and is day 3 & 4 of a 5 day match. Football >>> SS2 or Football >>> SS3 which we SS subscribers all have, or Cricket >>> SS3?

What does annoy me slightly is when they move a cricket match mid match from SS1 to SS2, usually because there is live football on the former. Why they don't just start on SS2 is beyond me.

      Re: Madness

The easiest thing for you to do is to subscribe to both SS1 and SS2 until the end of the international series because with the football starting the cricket will be all over the place. Next week there are a couple of Pro40 games that start on SS1 but then finish on SS3 before of midweek football.

Yes I saw the domestic schedules but my main interest is international and all but 2 of the 7 ODIs are on SS1.

Reason for not having SS1 & 2 - the cost.

      Mrs

      @ alan b
I pay 28 for SS1 & 3 plus 2 Mix and have been on this, or sometimes just 2-mix, for 4 years. I estimate a saving of 240 over that time.

      This package reduces to 27 in September, (2-Mix = 17, SS1 & 3 = 10). SS1 can be SS2.

The above is not shown in the channel choices online/ads, only the full SS at 34/35.

This has been a good choice as I can swap the channels over for the cost of a phone call. My problem came with my Sky+ installation and now that I know about viewing only subscribed recordings - I can get around that.
