Can I reduce payment on new sports channels
Hi,just wondered with the new Sky sports channels set up if I can now get a reduction in subscription costs,I currently have the full package i have no interest in cricket,tennis,F1 etc and would love just the football channels....is this possible to just have the football channels only ? Therefore just pay for them and get a reduction in subscription as I do not want the rest of the sports channels.....any advice/help would be greatly appreciated ... .cheers

Re: Can I reduce payment on new sports channels
As football accounts for more of the budget than all the others put together, you may find you had to pay more.;(

Re: Can I reduce payment on new sports channels
I'm not suggesting that those who watch it shouldn't pay, I am (kind of) objecting to supporting those who do. You must admit that most of the sports costs and coverage go toward football.
They split F1 off to a different chargeable channel and Cricket and Golf seem to have recently followed suit, so why not restrict football to its own channel(s) rather than taking up general viewing time. If people want to watch it they can still pay to do so (and possibly subsidise the general viewing), but do make it a choice not the default viewiing instead of entertainment programs.

Re: Can I reduce payment on new sports channels
Isn't that what Sky Sports Premier League and Sky Sports Football will achieve? The idea of 'general viewing' has gone with the new channel line-up (apart from for more minority-type sports on SS Action and SS Arena - Main Event is just a repeater of big stuff on the other channels and is only for those with the full set anyway, so seems pointless).

Re: Can I reduce payment on new sports channels
I would phone Sky and ask them to change your subscription from whatever it is now (probably the full Sky Sports pack, following the changes) to either one pack for £18pm or two packs for £22pm depending on which football pack(s) you want.
If football is your preference then your choices seem to be Sky Sports PL and/or Sky Sports Football.
For reference, three packs is £26pm, the full range is £27.50 per month.
Always worth giving them a call to see what deals can be done!
I often used to begin by following the "I want to cancel my Sky Sports pack" route which almost always elicited a "whoa there, let's see what we can do" type response. If you're worried about doing this, in case no deal is offered, you can always say "No, I'll go away and have a think about it" if they don't play ball and just ask you to confirm that you want to cancel.++ speedyrite ... powered by NOW Broadband from June 2018 ++

Re: Can I reduce payment on new sports channels
I phoned about something else and was offered £7 off my existing full Sports package price without me asking. New contract term is 18 months.

Re: Can I reduce payment on new sports channels
You can go into a new 18 month minimum term on basic TV AND Sky Sports by agreeing to take Full Sports @ £20 for 18 months.
If you take the Sports @ £27.50 or the 1, 2 or 3 pack options then you just have a 1 month contract.
If you take the contract and then downgrade early then you'll get an early termination charge.
If you take complete sports @ £20 AND you have Boxsets then you can get HD Sports for £2 per month for 18 months too. Please note the views and recommendations in my posts are my own and in no way reflect the views of Sky
