      Recordings showing clashed or failed

The title is perhaps somewhat vague, but recently I have been experiencing intermittent errors in recording programs.

As an instance I had a program set to record at 10:00pm on Saturday, whilst I was watching something else, however I never noticed that the record light never came on until around 10:30. Checked the TV listings and the planner and yes it was set to record. Couldn't do anything until after 11:00 when I checked the planner and was greeted with the message Clashed.....err!! with what nothing else was set to record and I was watching another channel.

Ok I watched the episode on On Demand so I didn't miss anything. I've also had recording's that have come up with Failed Error Code 10, I know that there has never been an explanation for this one and a planner rebuild is usually the answer.

I've also recently been experiencing the channel information remain on screen, the only way to reset this is to re boot the box.

The box is an Amstrad DRX780 and I'm wondering if it's simply on it's 'last legs' before giving up completely.

Dont know if yours would be the same, but the error code 10's for me was the start of the HD failing, replaced it and I've not had a problem since. My bos is an 890 though.

Re: Recordings showing clashed or failed

First you'll have to go through the Sky and they will tell you to do the rebuilds etc. When it completely fails THEN you'll get a replacement. I think I saw in another thread, and I'm certain I'll be corrected if I'm wrong, that Sky are replacing the older units when a fault is reported anyway, so try giving them a call, nowt to lose.

Well worth the call, get an engineer Monday, even though it's BH earliest they can do and I've been credited 1 weeks subscription and if it's one of the usual engineers then hopefully the box will be replaced.

Re: Recordings showing clashed or failed

Just in case, the best solution currently to check for clashed recordings before they happen is the Sky+ app.

If you have a tablet or smart phone (Android or iOS) then please download and install it.

      Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...yplus&hl=en_GB

      iOS: https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/sky+/id301250225?mt=8

Of course if that isn't the reason then try the following:

      • Purge your 'deleted' tab of any items
      • Perform a Planner Rebuild

      Using you remote press <TV Guide> <Green> <Right> <Right> <Down>

This should have selected the 'Deleted' tab.

Now press <Yellow> to permanently delete any items there and keep going until all the items have been removed.

Next you can do the Planner Rebuild.

      Press <Services> 0 0 1 <Select> 7 <Down>

This should have selected 'Sky+ Rebuild'. Please follow the instructions on your screen from here. The process will take around 10-20 minutes to complete. Once done press the <Sky> button on your remote to wake the Sky+ HD box up again.

Sky Fibre Unlimited Pro: Connected at 80,000 kbps / 20,000 kbps
Previous ADSL2+ Speed 19999 kbps 1153 kbps, Line Attenuation 17.5 db 6.9 db, Noise Margin 7.5 dB 8.7 dB

Re: Recordings showing clashed or failed

Replaced with an 890W, the box had also developed something the engineer had not seen, there were white lines down the TV listing menu, his initial thoughts was the TV pixels but checking some of the channels that had a logo or information in the bottom right hand corner there were no lines....so not the TV.....phew!!!

Anyway I now have an up to date box with 5.1 coming through HDMI and a newer style planner menu so a result.

It is handy when you have another source to show them.
