Sky box age
When did sky start putting a blue band around the power input. Just bought a cheap box on ebay and I`m trying to work out how old it is?
If you don`t have any problems today think of some new ones for tomorrow.

Re: Sky box age
Good question.
I think the pink / magenta one around the HDMI port was the first to appear.
I've help set up a few boxes for friends / family & vaguely recall green (ethernet?) & blue but can't remember.
My 2010 model has no colours so it's definitely later than that.

Re: Sky box age
Assuming it's a +HD box (DRX890 / DRX895) if RF ports are on the back it's at least 2 years old.

Re: Sky box age
Thanks guys. Bought it to practice taking apart in preparation for upgrading the hard drive on my 890. Just put it back together and it works. Well chuffed. Now to get brave and go for the 2TB hard drive. I`ll keep everybody posted.
If at first you don`t succeed, get a bigger hammer!

Re: Sky box age
I think that Sky started colour coding the power lead for the Sky STB about 3 years ago.
They us the same leads and colour scheme on the Sky Hub SR101 & SR102.

Re: Sky box age
I`ve already got multiscreen and refuse point blank to give Sky £249 for a Tb box which is what they quoted me.

Re: Sky box age
The latest versions are based upon the DRX595 & DRX890.
The DRX595L has no Modem. I can't recall if it has the built-in WiFi adaptor though.
The DRX890WL has the 500GB drive, of which 250GB is available for our own recordings. With built-in WiFi and various connections on the rear now removed. These include the UHF (in/out), DIN socket, Modem, eSATA and USB ports.
The DRX895WL is the same as the DRX890WL, except that the case is all black and the drive is a 2TB drive with about 1.5TB available for our recordings.
