Wifi Connection
My elderly uncles DRX780 is still going strong and works fine but after two recent power outages ( last one for only one minute ) the wifi connection drops and try as we might we have been unable to reconnect unless we use the update option, this only overwrites the existing up to date software but when it has the wifi connection is up and running again
he uses the Sky wireless adapter and no amount of re setting this,re setting the network settings on the box, using the WPS option or rebooting the box etc
will allow the connection to be made, the wireless adapter is connecting to the Sky wifi ok,i tested this by connecting it's ethernet cable to a laptop and it worked perfectly so it is connecting to the wifi but it seems like the box is not recognising it, on my own box if i unplug the adapter i get an error message but on my uncles it has no effect if the adapter is unplugged
with the adapter working and plugged into the box the red network reset button in network settings does not work, but with the adapter unplugged it will reset the box, i am guessing it is a box fault and given that it is a good few years old maybe it is time to replace it with a new one but i am curious as to whether there is anything we could do to the 780.

Re: Wifi Connection
Quite often this problem can be fixed by switching the box to Standby, then switch the power off completely and remove the adapter. Give it 10 minutes then switch the box back on. When it is fully active, this can take a few minutes, plug the wireless adapter in and see if it is recognised.
As you say it is an old box and several are having problems with the latest firmware, mainly sound cutting out. Your best bet would be to replace it with a 890 or 895, second user, you can pick these up quite cheaply.

Re: Wifi Connection
Thanks for your reply, as the box is getting on a bit he is going to get the 2 TB wifi one which he can have for £49 with self install.
