Ok, there have been a few reports of issues with Toshiba TVs with the latest firmware when the HDMI feature is enabled.

If you could do the following with your Sky remote it should resolve the issue:

      <Services> 0 <Down>

Keep pressing down to highlight 'HDMI Control' and change it from 'On' to 'Off'. Press <Green> to save the setting.

      Hi

I have spoken to SKY and they say it is not a SKY problem rather it is the Toshiba TV that is dropping the channel. Any thoughts anyone before I speak to Toshiba?

Hmmm... you can try but I am already aware that there are a variety of reports on the forums from people with Toshiba TVs. They may use this to get out of the problem.

Could I ask you to turn of the HDMI CEC funsction on your Toshiba to see if this resolves the issue? If possible just turn it off on the HDMI port which the Sky Box is connected to, if not this will affect anything else which uses the CEC feature (i.e. volume control on a sound system).

On the Toshiba the CEC funtion is called - Regza Link or CE-Link

Re: Sky TV not starting up after turning off problem

This sounds like when you switch your TV off it is defaulting to the analogue/digital channels on the TV instead of staying on the HDMI input you select.

I had this on an old Samsung TV I had and it was not a fault with the TV or the HD box the TV would always start on these channels unless the other device I powered up had CEC on i.e. my playstation 3. There was no CEC control on the HD box at that time so anytime the TV and HD box came out of standby I would have to press help on the RCU to get back to HDMI.

The only way I found around this was to put the TV into hotel mode which is an installers menu, I then changed hdmi 1 to the default start up channel however this invalidates the TV warranty as there are settings only the TV manufacturers or installers should access including some thing's that could break the TV. Also not every TV has a hotel mode I think.

Try switching the HDMI control command back on in the HD box and also check that CEC or the TV's version of it is switched on. Once they are both on then put your TV and the box both to standby. Then press the Sky button on the remote and see if this works.

      Ok thanks both.

Would you be so kind as to lay your suggestion in an idiot list, not too sure of the suequence and the terminalogy.

      Thanks, help is always appreciated.

Re: Sky TV not starting up after turning off problem

There is an interesting article on Toshiba Tv not starting up here- My Toshiba TV won't turn on! | Toshibalife I wonder if this is connected in some way to your problem?

Instructions for getting into 'engineer mode' mode can be found here - Toshiba TV service mode procedures and adjustments Take great care if you enter this as you can do a lot of damage if you don't really know what you are doing.

Instructions for turning off the CEC function can be found here - Using Regza-link; Enable Regza-link; Tv Auto Power; Auto Standby - Toshiba 23RL933B Owner's Manual [Page 59]
