Unexpected emails from sky or perhaps not?

I have had a few emails over the past couple of weeks claiming to be from sky asking me to change my password.
The link given is only available for 3 hours I am told.
It looks genuine, but there is no reason I should be receiving these as I have not tried and failed to get into my sky account area.
I have not done anything to prompt sky to ask me to change my password.

I assume therefore that these are bogus emails from some naughty person trying to either give me a virus or perhaps access my sky account area.

Or does anyone here know any legit reason I might be receiving these emails?

I have not and will not click on any link within these emails!

      Sounds dodgy to me!

Trying checking the email headers. Might give some insight where it was sent from!

It does look dodgy, but I seem remember there was a rather stupid email exercise promoting the Hannibal series from a similar address. It may be stirring up interest in a new series or something like that. When you hover over the link, what actual URL address do you see? That's usually the best way to find out if a link is genuine.

      Strange....

When I copy and paste the 3 links into a post on here the post does not happen.

I shall just carry on deleting them and if genuine surely sky will eventually make contact with me via another way such as a phone call.

Unexpected emails from sky or perhaps not?

If it is suspected that your account has been compromised then I am pretty sure they are locked/disabled to stop any access to it meaning you would then need to contact Sky for assistance.

I would be pretty suspicious of these emails just like yourself.

Could I suggest that you contact Sky's on-line team on the Sky forum? They might be able to look into it better and perhaps even trace the IP Address with a view to blocking it at a later date.
