Feint Lines on Screen

Hi all

I've been lurking around this forum for a while now and have decided to join

I have a SKY+ HD box
I was watching the footie on SKY the other day (night game) and noticed some horizontal lines going down the left hand side of the screen.
When I switched channels it was more noticable on the blue background screen
I re-booted my box and still the same, I changed the HDMI lead moved wires etc, but still the same , I updated the software on my TV too.
I switched over to my freeview channels and the lines seemed to have dissapeared so I know its not the TV.
This is more noticable in the evening
The signal strength is pretty good when checking on the box

What TV do you have (make & model) and what picture settings are you using?

I have a Samsung TV and have it on 'Screen fit'. This shows a little more than the 16:9 around the edges. 16:9 strangely crops the picture a little.

As a result, sometimes I do see the odd dots around the edge of the screen. I also notice when a poor camera is used more often than I would with the 16:9 cropped image as well.

I did a little research on the samsung EH5000/5300 a few weeks ago & found that 'screen fit' is definitely the setting to go for if feeding it an HD signal, whether upscaled or not.

'Screen fit' on samsung's is the one that gives you 1:1 pixel mapping & should bypass any internal scalers.

I have a Sony KDL40W5500,to me it looks like poor reception, I checked the PAL and screen format from my STB but still no joy.
I've ordered a signal booster just in case

I haven't checked the screen format on the TV though so I will give this a try
