10% is a bit steep.
To be honest I thought we may be get something more competitive to compete with BTsport offering and cheaper Fibre.Last edited by lettice; 07-06-13 at 05:13 PM.

10% is a bit steep, but it could be less as it does say "up to".
September is going to be a key month for me as it's also when my Sky Fibre contract expires and at this rate I can see me ditching not only the Broadband but pay TV as well.
Showing my age I know but I think it's getting ever closer to that point where I just switch off the television set and go out and do something less boring instead...
I used to think Sky was good value compared to going to a live game or taking the kids to the cinema, but I've started to realise it's only great value if all you do is watch as much as possible of what you are paying for, which is not really how I want to live my life.
After all, it's just telly innit?

I think it's just a reference to the T&Cs that allow an increase of up to 10% as opposed to there actually be any package that has a 10% increase. Hope I'm not wrong!!!!

Exactly my feelings and situation.
I too am of an age where I find myself incredibly bored with the garbage that is fed to me via the television.
Not sure if I want to lose fibre but I shall consider it as my contract is up in September.
Everything I like to watch with a few exceptions is available without having sky.
I think they are very quickly pricing themselves beyond what it is really worth as most of the channels are complete and utter garbage.

I cancelled Sport this week and wasn't offered anything to keep it. I do enjoy the movies though and HD is a must on a 65in tv. It is getting very expensive though. I suppose if I ditched movies i might actually get some use out of the bluray player!!

Don't get me wrong, I will keep my Fibre, but as we have discussed in other threads Sky is no longer competitive and if that remains the case in September then I will move to Plusnet (or whoever has the best all round deal for me at the time).
Most of what the Wife watches is on "normal" TV and the kids will watch what they are given...
I would miss the likes of Game of Thrones but I can obtain these in other ways, or if I'm feeling moral I'll just start a LOVEFiLM subscription and watch it on Blu-Ray. £120 a year for all the films I can watch on Sky (albeit I have to wait a bit longer), plus a load of Disney stuff for the kids to stream when they like seems more attractive by the day.Last edited by stereohaven; 07-06-13 at 08:44 PM.

I'd agree. Didn't someone at Sky say that they believed the "market" could support a 2.5% rise each year. I think this was in reference to the increased sports package costs but you can see where this would lead with package prices.
Sky are competitive on the top level packages mainly because they set the prices to competitors. They are getting squeezed a bit at the low end where Entertainment/Extra customers with tel and broadband are switching to Youview packages so I think they will be reluctant to increase these.

I phoned to unsubscribe from from my £10.25 HD pack today & was offered it at half price for 3 months.
It doesn't start a new 12 month contract so i thought why not?
I've saved £5 per month & get to keep the F1 channel.
There's still the odd little sweetener out there.
