Sky TV price increase on 1 September 2013 by up to 10%

Just had my letter. a £1.75 increase
£0.75 for EE
£1.00 for sky sports

Was really expecting something on fibre this summer for existing customers, but £20 a month is too much, even if I got 6 months half price.
Will ring them next month and see what they say.
Seems that the bt sport deal is not really seen as a big impact to sky, for them to make many changes.

Lots of customers have "mailshots" to recontract on their existing broadband for another 12 months. If you are in a fibre area then some of these have a different offer for upgrading to fibre (I see you have sports so you can get 6 months free or with the correct mailshot 12month half price).
You should call them this month when the offers are still valid, instead of waiting until next month when they probably won't be.

Nice to see Sky on the attack for advertising on Fibre at long last. Lets hope that they put a more competitive price on the packages sooner rather than later.

If they do, I wouldn't be surprised if BT retaliated in some way, I think these two are going go tit for tat for a while now, perhaps sometimes to our benefit.

Of course they will be biting at each other's custom. BT currently has the largest chunk of broadband customers in the UK. This is mostly because they are present at the majority of exchanges. Of course Hull is an exception.

It may be co-incidence but interestingly none of the BT exchanges around the area covered by Kingston communications feature in the fibre roll out plans.

That checker is Openreach's. I can see them advertising Kingston Comms' (KC) details there. In the same respect they don't have VM's either.

The exchange at the centre (Beverley) is a KC, not BT exchange. SamKnows does't list any fibre in that one, but KC does have Fibre products (KC Lightstream).

Nice connection speed, but they won't be able to retain the statement "UK's fastest fibre broadband" now that BT has launched their 300mbps product.

The main exchange in Hull (Civic) also appears to not have Fibre. I guess that SamKnows doesn't have all the information on this one.

I don't think BT can be much bothered about an area they don't operate in. KC are claiming their 50mb speed is faster than BT's 38Mb, they don't mention Infinity offer 76mb speed. Also their 100Mb speed seems to be based on FTTH, this is much slower than BT's offering. I think if they had competition in their area they would be a lot of complaints going into the advertising authority.

Saw in mysky the offer of free 12 mth broadband for existing broadband/skysports customers and a few mentions of it.
i have sky talk, line rental, broadband unlimited, sky sports, entertainmnet extra and hd currently.

rang and got deal and also with £5 off sky sports for 24 months, mentioned as a bonus for being a loyal customer and a beta tester.
Just had to accept a new 12 month broadband contract, but no big deal.
so even with the £1.75 tv increase have a nice decrease in my bill.

Perhaps when fibre comes down in price I will think about that next year...
No deals on that really apart form upgrade, 6 months free, £50 engineer, but still £20 a month after and nothing else with that.
