Sky TV price increase on 1 September 2013 by up to 10%
Well I had an online chat with sky yesterday to find out what my new sub would be post 1st sep. after I long chat as they typed very slowly I gotta figure which wasn't as bad as I thought. I then cheekily asked if there were any offers on my account to upgrade to sky sports (even though it had only been switched off on 5th may). They came back and said 6mths half price.
So job done. That gets me through this ashes series and the winter one. Then I'll call to remove it again at the 6mtj point and see what they say.
Always worth asking the question as to what they will do for you.

I think you find that the small print will state that it is a minimum of a 12 month contract.

Nope, not at all, I can remove sky sports after 6mths this was explicitly said on the call. They even told me the date that I have to ring to cancel sports if I don't want to incur the full cost.

Re: Sky TV price increase on 1 September 2013 by up to 10%
Just had my letter. a £1.75 increase
£0.75 for EE
£1.00 for sky sports
Was really expecting something on fibre this summer for existing customers, but £20 a month is too much, even if I got 6 months half price.
Will ring them next month and see what they say.
Seems that the bt sport deal is not really seen as a big impact to sky, for them to make many changes.

Well I phoned and cancelled Sky, went through all the whys and where fours, just told the nice lady it’s getting to dear and I said I'd rather insure my heating boiler as I only watch a few channels.
Hang on and she said my last payment would be £28 and finish on 16/8/13.
Thanks very much bye.
Today I get a letter sorry your leavening your last bill will be £34.50 ?????????????, I’m just glad I’m going.

Obviously not good being advised one thing, then to be told a higher amount later.
Have you been able to break down the reason for the difference? I would be inclined to call Sky to let them know that you are not happy and hopefully get it waived.
