I wonder if some (rain) water has got into the dish cable? Try the box on the cables for your other box, which I assume is trouble free.

Re: Sound problem on Sky+ box

Have connected old sky box up. Not a box that records and it has only one input but tested it and sound is okay on it using either of the twin inputs so must be a problem with sky+ box. Have spoken to Sky and they confirm that a replacement will cost £199 drx890 but if I would like to replace with a 1TB box it will cost £49 proving that I take a HD sub with a years contract. Can buy a box from Amazon for around £100 which they say are new boxes but how can they sell them for around £100 when sky is £199 (DRX890 model) Still not sure what to do but think the 1TB box from Sky is a good deal. Thanks for your input as I have now eliminated any problems with dish cables.

I would buy the 1TB box tbh you will have loads of new storage space, and if you are not planning on leaving Sky, its a no brainer.
