      Love Sky BUT!

I think the product is amazing but is Sky starting to get to big and is the pricing getting out of control? i know they have spent loads on technology but i think it's 92 for everything with no discounts? I have discounts on mine for for all and at the moment still pay 42. Does anyone else think it's getting well too expensive now?

Sky has listened. Sure they do need to make money at the end of the day, but they froze the prices in Sept 2011 and instead of hicking them up to the full price the Sept, existing customers have only a small increase.

Of course you can vote with your feet. There are other options. Sadly they just aren't as comprehensive or cheap.

      Re: Love Sky BUT!

It all comes down to your own finances and perception of value.

I currently have Sky World HD, ESPN, Multi-room, Sky Talk Anytime, Line Rental & Broadband Unlimited and as of the 1st September that little lot should cost 111.74 per month. I won't pay that at the moment as I am on a "return to Sky" discount until March 2013, but if you just look at the headline figure that is a lot of dough.

However, I think we can take away the phone and broadband cost because even if we didn't have Sky TV we would still be paying someone for those services and looking at BT as a quick example (excluding any initial discounts), I'm looking at 41.65 a month just for a comparable Phone & Broadband package. Of course I may be able to bring that down a tad with another provider but the only company I have ever used that have been as reliable as Sky is BT, so they would get my business.

So that brings the cost of the "entertainment" down to around 17.25 a week. Now we think that paying less than 20 a week to access pretty much all the sport there is, a wide range of movies, a decent and growing on demand service, all of the same in another room and have the use of a pretty decent PVR remains good value, especially when you compare what else you can get these days for the money. It costs me more than that to take the family to the cinema or even swimming!

Naturally I would like it to be less, but then I would like all of my bills to be less, or better still, free! But everything is relative and for us, Sky remains good value. I appreciate others may not feel the same but as has been pointed out, you do have a choice, Sky is highly desirable, but not compulsory!

Think our package is 80 a month. 30 of this is just for Fibre Pro, and I believe it is worth every single penny.

Could take or leave most of the TV, but my wife watches it more than I do.

If you cancel Sports / Movies sometimes they offer you a reduced rate for x amount of time.
~ Never, ever, argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience ~

while I am sure sky are making money they are investing on making it better that's important to them and us as customers I know that we have to pay those bills as a sky customer there's nothing really we can do about it well except leave maybe but that's drastic measures.

Yes agree there is loads of money put into the new Tech side of just about everything 3d etc. But there is only so much people can pay. I would rather my great BB.
