      New Installation Query

I have just placed an order for SKY TV as I have just moved into a sheltered housing bungalow. The bungalow has an output socket for shared satelite signals however one of the reasons I signed up with SKY was so that I could watch one live programme and record another channel at the same time.

Having read some of the comments about reduced services on the forum whereby posters have only been able to record the programme they are watching has made me think "have I done the right thing" as this is of no use to me.

I am allowed to put up a mini dish if this helps but my main question is, what is the best way of making sure that the engineer who will call to install my SKY TV understands that if he is only going to put in a reduced service then forget it. I am still in my cooling off period if advice on this forum suggests that SKY would not be able to fulfil the requirement to video one live programme whilst watching another live programme.

Any help and assistance from the forum would be greatly appreciated

      Bob

      Re: New Installation Query

If you are allowed to put in a mini dish, then I would say don't worry.

To get the full service on Sky+ you need a twin LNB and twin cable back to the box.

The installer if he puts up a dish may as well just run the twin cable back to your TV etc as it is the same thickness as a single core. Instead of using the existing points so to speak.

      Re: New Installation Query

I have now had SKY TV installed and as NewsreadeR said above, no need to worry.

The Engineer (Michael) who called to install was most helpful and answered all my questions before the installation started. I was most impressed with the professional way it was carried out, always making sure that I was happy with the results together with giving me a demonstration of the facilities when it was up and running.

A very good job done - goes to show, just browse this forum first and then ask the relevant questions of the engineer before he starts the installation, on this occassion the engineer was only to happy to discuss and inform.
