Re: No Audio/Video error message
Thanks. I did not know there is a Technomate forum and that's a good idea although Woodster on here said he has used this receiver.
I still think it is something simple and not a failure not helped by me knowing absolutely nothing about it and being worried about messing it up and losing Sky News.
Thanks for help

Have you still got the old Sky box? If you have, plug it in and see if it works.

Re: No Audio/Video error message
Sorry for the delay but I can't get a clear view of what is going on. The Technomate remote has never been used so I thought it may be the batteries so I changed the batteries and in the TV remote as well.
At first try of the menu nothing happened but after leaving it for a few minutes it did come on and I was able to navigate around the screen and switch off with the menu button. I thought it was OK but it has not done that since. Sometimes it does not come on at all and at the moment the menu is stuck on the screen and I have to power off to get rid of it.
I think I must be doing something wrong and I am worried that I will mess it up and lose Sky News. Our ill 87 year old loves Sky News and this is the reason why I am trying so hard to get it fixed.
Thanks for help.

Re: No Audio/Video error message
It won't be the LNB as you would have had a 'No Satellite Signal' message generated by the Technomate. I am still inclined towards component failure in the box. It is not unknown.

Re: No Audio/Video error message
I'm at a loss as to what to suggest, I'm also a little confused - as you are saying the technomate remote has never been used, have you only ever used the satelite receiver to watch Sky news?
If this is the case, is it possible that the channel has been changed on the receiver? Can you try using the 'ch+' & 'ch-' buttons on the tecnomate remote to go one channel up and down?
I wouldn't be worried that you might do something wrong and 'lose' sky news, because at the moment you don't have access to it so I'd suggest 'playing' with the remote to see what you can get access to - did you look at the link to the manual that I posted? Page 11 gives a full list of the functions that can be accessed from the remote. E.g Have you tried pressing the EPG button to bring up a list of channels and selecting Sky News from there? The A-Z button will sort all channels into alpha order, from where yo can select particular channels.
You say that you were able to access the menu and navigate around the menu - Did you try doing any of the steps that Woodster suggested?
If you are struggling to access any functions using the technomate remote, even with new batteries - then this would indicate either a broken remote or a failing receiver.
