      Old box and content

I have an old box full of content and now have a sky hd box. If I unplug the old box from the dish and the phone line and link the card to the new box will I be able to still watch the old content on the old box until it is empty?

      Re: Old box and content

No. You need a valid Viewing Card to use the Sky+ facilities. It will also need to be valid for the content.

There are a few choices open to you:

      • Record everything that your really want to keep to DVD or another PVR
      • Use +Extract to copy the content onto a computer (note: only good for Free-to-View channels)
      • See if mrmrt32's software (ExPVR) has been changed to allow you to copy from the Sky+ STB to the Sky+ HD STB drive
      • Get a multi-room subscription and use the STB there
      • Forget it and lose it all

If you were cancelling your Sky subscription, then you could pay 15 per month to continue using the box as a Freesat+ STB. This would still mean that you wouldn't be able to view any encrypted material.
