      Sky COMPLETELY broke after storm

I know loads of people lose their sky after a storm, it has happened to me before. However I have just endured the storms that battered central scotland recently and now my sky doesnt work at all.

      NO access to recorded shows.

      NO TV AT ALL.

the last time a storm blew our dish away and knackered the service, we could still watch things that we had sky+ed however now the screen is just blue.

      anyone experience anything like this?

You can't play back recorded programmes if there is still no signal after 20 minutes.

Re: Sky COMPLETELY broke after storm

Has your dish been blown down again or knocked out of alignment? Are the cables still attached to it?

If everything looks OK try an update. Switch to Standby, them switch the power off. Hold down the Backup button on top of the box, not the remote, and switch the power back on. Keep holding down the button until 3 or 4 lights in front come on, when they do let go the button and wait until the process is complete. It can take about 15mins then it will be in Standby. Press the Sky button and see if it turns on.

If that does not work, a front panel reset may be required. As this wipes all your recordings, it should only be used as a last resort.

Trying to download firmware with a bad signal can cause problems so, before you do anything else, try a simple reboot (and give it a few minutes).

Please divulge the make and model number from the label.

cheers for all the input guys. no progress though.

Why can you not use the box if there is no signal for more than 20mins. If that is true then it is obviously the problem... but what is the reasoning behind that?

So you cannot take your Sky box to another location and watch the stuff you've recorded.

...unless it is connected to a Sat Dish aimed at the same group of Satellites that Sky uses.

Is this because the label is missing?
