Can you position the Sky box right side up (standing)?
Hey guys, my room is pretty small, but I just upgraded my 19 incher TV to a nice 32" one. Only problem is, previously, my TV was small enough to sit on top of the box, and everything else sat next to TV (PS3, etc). Now I am facing an issue, either I'm going to have to put that massive TV on top of the box which I don't think would be recommended, or I can put the Sky box right side up, like you would with a PS3, to maximize space. Are there any recommendations against that, as in overheating, etc? Thanks!

Re: Can you position the Sky box right side up (standing)?
The problem is that standing it on end would block the air flow through the box. It may be possible to fashion a stand to keep the end off the shelf, something like the stand which enables a router to stand on end. If you did this you would have to keep the 'hot' side up, which in the case of the Samsung, is the left hand side as you face it. Other boxes may be different, placing your hand on the side of the box will let you know the hot side. I have never done this and if you do, it is entirely at your own risk.
There is less risk standing the TV on top of the box.

If you have a flat screen TV, I would make enquiries about mounting it on a wall if space is at such a premium.
I appreciate that this is not suitable for everyone as many Landlords will forbid such action.

Thanks for your answers guys, very helpful.
Isittime , your absolutely right, so I didn't risk it, its now sitting just fine on top of the box with the PS3 and sound system built around it, looks like a battlestation !
Scubbie, you make a good point, my landlord is a right on pilock, but regardless hanging the TV isnt the best solution for my studio room since most of the walls are way too thin apart from one, which is the window wall, not the best place. It's all working now though!

Had a similiar issue with mine - mounted it upright along with a PS3 by getting hold of some building hangers and then sticking rubber feet on the base so that its allows the heat to pass.
