I realise this. The OP is asking for 'free' HD channels and those I mentioned will be available without the HD subs when the Sky+ HD STB has been installed. He can the view them in HD quality, provided that he has a HD ready or full HD TV of course.

      Re: Free HD channels

I do have a HD ready set so from what you say I will be able to watch those channels you have listed I will then be able to see the difference and maybe switch if I like HD.

Yes they are free channels which you will get even if you don't subscribe to the HD pack. There is one more to Subbie's list and that is BBC HD which is different to BBC 1 HD.

I tried to offer those with content that would always be comparable to something that was one the SD channel.

You are correct though, I had missed BBC HD and it does offer a lot of quality HD content.

Another important factor not mentioned in this thread is that for anyone with a 5.1 surround sound system connected to the Sky+ HD STB via the TOSLink (S/PDIF) or Coaxial sound sockets, your listening experience will be much better than if you use the SD channel.

Sadly only standard stereo is sent via the HDMI, Scart & Phono connections.
