    Sky Go

This is a discussion on Sky Go within the Sky & Sky+ TV forums, part of the Other Sky help and support category; If that is the case then I can see the Xbox support for Sky also being dropped by MS then....

Looks like a Sky Player service will remain available for XBOX and Fetch TV.

      Re: Sky Go

Interestingly from that press release are two other facts:

In time, Sky Go will be supported by Sky's acquisition earlier this year of The Cloud, a leading public Wi-Fi network that offers wireless access in over 4,500 public locations - across coffee shops, hotels, restaurants, public transport hubs and other public spaces. Out-of-home Wi-Fi will support a higher quality experience for online services including Sky Go and other high bandwidth services and applications. Further details on the roll out of the network, including timings, will be announced in due course.
In other words, it will work over WiFi and The Cloud is going to be tapped into for this new player.

P.S. I just dropped the bombshell on the Sky support forum

4.500 locations isn't that many in the grand scheme of things though. For example I love in a medium sized town and we have just 6 of these and they are all in a small area in the town centre so to the average user like me isn't going to be using this service much while out and about.

There were already other threads over there on it so you were not the first.

I think most of the Cloud connections are in a certain hamburger manufactures premises. Not all WiFi hotspots are owned by the Cloud, BT Open Zone are probably the most widespread, but require payment.

There is no mention of Sky Go being made available for the PS3 at present. You may wish to chase it up on the Sky Help Forum.

      Re: Sky Go

MS may have an exclusive deal with the Sky Player on the Xbox 360 and even if Sony wanted to do it, they may not be able to.

I have a feeling they are going to be using something other than Silverlight for the new service, which is probably why there's no media centre support now.
Silverlight was the main reason for most people's issues with Sky Player when I dealt with calls for it.
