      Sky in second home

      Hi
I have full sky package in my main house and sky set up in a second home (but with no subscription) - Is i possible when visiting the second home to simply take the sky card and all services will be available?

If not then i may take the standard sky package inc sky broadband so least the kids can watch sky and moves on anytime +

I want the 1Tb HD for my first house, but at 49 - so thinking if i do take second subscription then this could work to my advantage!

any thoughts be good guys ==> Thanks

You would need to pair the card with the other STB. In practical terms this could become a headache.

The alternative solution would be to install a dish, and suitable cables at the 2nd home. You could then take the original Sky STB with you between both locations.

      This does have disadvantages though:

      • the F-Plug connectors do not take kindly to repeated removal
      • the LNB benefits from being permanently connected to a Satellite receiver
      • the HDMI connector on the Amstrad DRX890 & DRX895 do not like having the HDMI lead repeatedly replaced
      • no one else can watch Sky when at the 'wrong' location

Depending on what you wish to view, you could use Sky Player and watch some content, including many films and live content. Whilst the quality isn't quite as good as from the Sky STB, it is fine in many situations.

A multi-room solution would not be a good choice if you are considering this. Should Sky get both STBs to call home and the 2nd one not call back or call from the wrong number, you would be charged the full subscription for the 2nd STB.

You would also have to take the box the card is paired to. Many do this when going to holiday homes or caravans.

The current offer of 49 for the 1TB HD box is only for replacing an older Thomson HD box (that won't ever work with Anytime+).

you can get a second box and take the card with you.
if on a full package you just lose the premium ones.
