suitable hard drives
hi
iam sure this will have been covered already but here goes
my thomson 80g hard drive has gone belly up.
can anyone tell me a suitable hard i can use.(prefer to use ccl store as only round the corner from me)
and will the box auto load the new hard drive.
i know that recording etc are lost i just want to get the box working again.
ps i have tried an old hdd the box tries to record to it but i don't think it is suitable as it jumps and skips all over.
many thanks

Re: suitable hard drives
It is possible that the PSU is failing in your Thomson STB?
If this is the case, then I wouldn't recommend any drive, only a replacement box.
Search this forum using the keywords 'thomson psu' if you do not know what I mean.

Re: suitable hard drives
IIRC, any old Windows-based HDD has to have partitions removed first in Windows Disk Management before hooking up to a Sky box. A Full System Reset in the Installer Setup is then required to get it working.
