Sky Atlantic: more adverts than content!!

I was watching boardwalk empir on sky on tuesday and i thought it seemed a bit long.
Then I thought there seems to be allot of adverts.
A Tv show is around the 40 to 45 minute mark give or take and each show on the sky planner lasts for 1 and half hours!!!!. this means there are 45 to 50 minuts of adverts for every show. I'm sorry but were the guys who thought this up smoking crack!!!! do they honestly think people will sit though that much advertising.
This is the kind of thing that makes people pirate TV shows. watch the first episode like it, then download the rest through the internet.

I understand allot of the content is from HBO which is a paid for channel in the US but that doesn't justify the **** take that is Sky Atlantic. They hyped it up so much i though it would be great!. Now im annoyed that the channel is where Sky3 used to be!
      Rant over

Your subs haven't increased for Sky Atlantic and you have a remote control. Exercise your right to choose and switch over.

I doubt very much that there was an advert 1 minute out of every 2, but hey.

The first episode is 82 mins without the adverts, the 2nd 58 mins.

To bump each up to fill their alloted slot, BSkyB would have had to make them 90 mins.

This was HBOs issue, not Sky's.

Future episodes have similar issues I'm afraid.

There are also laws in this country which apply to all broadcasters (I think) stating how many minutes worth of adverts they are allowed to show per hour. If you think Sky are bad then you should go over to America where it is probably three times as worse, because they put some many adverts on during the programs they do a split screen at the end of a program so you can see that one finishing and the next one starting.

TBH - I watched the 1st episode via other sources. A little disappointing even tho there was so much hype.

Not worth going back to Sky for. But then, maybe greek decoders are the future

Re: Sky Atlantic: more adverts than content!!

Part 2 of Boardwalk Empire had a 70 minute slot when it was first shown and I didn't think it too many adverts but lots of trailers which most likely do not count towards the ad tally.

The repeat late last night was sitting in a 90 minute slot and although I didn't watch it all I can geuss is that there was possibly a lot of ads at the end just like Sky Movies which has a longer slot on the EPG than the film.

HBO and Showtime run their episodes somewhat differently, they are varible length to allow the story to finish at a certain point. I have seen 50 min slots all the way to 1 hour 20 for a single episode.

To be honest I tend to record everything on Sky+ and watch it all leter so I can zip past the ads.

I think the only thing I watch live on Sky is the News programs, everything else is recorded.
