Is personal information stored on SKY+ HD Box?

      Hello all,

I'm selling my slim 500GB Amstrad Sky+ HD box (DRX890) and was just wondering if any personal information is stored on the HDD and also if I should include my viewing card with the sell - or is this just for me?

Unfortunately I'm no longer with sky so it doesn't seem to let me use the box when I plug it into TV (or I'd just have deleted everything) - however I'm sure there is another way to do this - but is this necessary?

Many thanks for any help anyone can offer.

The receiver will revert to a basic Sky receiver if you have no Sky subscription on it so you should ba able to watch the FreeSat channels on it but will not be able to play or record anything.

You should keep the card if you do decide to sell it as this belongs to Sky.

Re: Is personal information stored on SKY+ HD Box?

The details required for the operation of the digibox for each Sky subscriber are stored on the viewing card, not the digibox. This includes your PIN number. Only Parental Controls are stored in the box, and you should turn these off before selling on if you wish. You keep the card.

If you wish to wipe the hard drive of all recordings and reset the box to factory default, do a System Reset. On the remote, press Services, 0, 0, 1 & press Select. Then use Option 8 - System Reset.
