red light on magic eye but wont change channel?

Ive started having problems with my magic eye. Its worked fine for months but for the last few days it wont change the channel. The red light is on and I get a good picture but I cant change the channel. Ive tried restarting the sky box and Ive plugged the eye directly into RF2 on the sky box but it still wont change channel with any of my remotes. Is there something else to try or is the eye just dead?

I assume the digibox changes channel OK without using the magic eye. If so, try rebooting the box at the mains. If that doesn't work, switch OFF the RF Power in the Service menu ( Services, 0, 0, 1, Select ), save the settings, and exit the menu. Reboot the box at the mains. Switch ON RF Power Supply, save the settings, and see if that works. You could also try the eye in another digibox to make sure it's duff or not. If it works OK there, the box may be faulty, or you've had a software update that's causing the problem.

I tried all the above and nothing made an difference. I finally got it working when i levered the connection at the back of the tv. It must just be a dodgy connection between the eye and the tv connection.

the magic eye should change the channel even if not plugged into a TV set as it works on the digibox not the TV if you see what I mean..

Re: red light on magic eye but wont change channel?

Many magic eye problems are caused by poor connections. A bad contact will allow enough current to flow to light the LED, but not enough for the electronics to work properly.
