moving house - phone line query

      Hi

i am asking here before i phone sky as to be honest i have had enough of their "customer service" and long waiting times for the time being

i have just bought a new house which has had a phone line at the premises because there is a BT master socket and extension there. I have not tried pluggin a phone in yet as i would be suprised if it would work but i will try that tonight

either way i think i would need the phone line reconnecting. As i am currently a sky customer and have sky talk, line, broadband with sky. Would they reconnect it for me, would there be a cost?

or would i need to go to BT and get charged a stupid amount?

      thanks

Only BT can connect phone lines. Sky may be slow at answering phones at the moment because of the extreme weather in the Edinburgh area, which means that their staff have difficulties getting in to work.

It's currently -10C here . Blizzard yesterday, now all turned to solid ice. Where Sky are, at Kirkton Campus just outside Livingston, they're in the middle of nowhere, basically. All bus services in the Lothians were suspended yesterday - limited today - so don't expect a speedy reply. Good luck.

Sky have a procedure for moving home, it would be better if you have a look at that before you do anything -
Sky Help Centre - Moving Home

It is likely to cost you about 40 to have the phone connected. If you are on Sky Talk Rental, they may waive the charge.

Have you checked if Sky have enabled the exchange you are moving to?

i might just call BT and see

there is a line going to my house and a BT master socket.

Not sure if it is up to sky or BT to do it

The next thing to establish is if there is a slot for you at the exchange. Sky LLU is limited to a set number at each exchange, if all the slots are full, you could be put on Connect. You don't want that. If you are on a busy exchange, your own slot could be filled as soon as you vacate it.

Not sure if it is up to sky or BT to do it
If you are keeping your line rental with Sky, then they will set it up. If you are moving your rental to BT, then you will have to contact them.

Re: moving house - phone line query

omg this is killing me now

i have spent 10 minutes in a queue to get through to sky. i never know which one is for moving home, so finally got through and he said he will put me in the queue for the moving home. when he did a automated message said our offices are now closed please call back mon-fri 8am to 9pm , it is only 20:40 now so they have closed 20 mins early. nice of them

      sick of this

has anyone got a direct dial for moving home or know the extension numbers?
