      HD Channels

      If you leave SKY and still keep your SKY+ HD box do you still receive the HD channels from the BBC, ITV& CH4?

      Yes, but you will lose the recording functions.

      Sorry to appear thick but how does that work then

      I will be able to watch the programmes on the Sky+ box but not record them

      To be able to record them you must have an active Sky account and be paying them 10 a month for the recording feature to work via either the HD charge or just by paying it for the recording function only if you don't want the HD channels.

      Exactly! You will also not be able to watch anything you have recorded previously.

      If one terminated the contract with HDD full of movies (1tb) would the box play back if it were totally disconnected from dish and telephone ?

      No, it needs the card with movies enabled to play back anything you have recorded previously.

      .......and has to be connected to the dish.

      It also has to be the same card used when the recording was made, you cannot just borrow one from a friend etc.
