If you have an optical out and input then try using an optical connection for your sound. You would also benefit from 5.1 sound should your equipment support it.

That may remedy the sound for Sky, but all the while that HDMI is connected it still leaves me no sound from my other sources!

Something in the Sky box's HDMI output is stopping everything else working properly.

      Re: HDMI audio problem

Of course I'd simply switch to a component connection to retain an HD picture, but my box doesn't appear to have the outputs!

Does anyone know which boxes have component outs?

The older Thompson receivers had them but you will need to buy one second hand now as none of the current receivers have that option.

If your going to buy an old thomson make sure you:
      1. Buy one with the component outputs (not all of the thomsons had them)
      2. Buy one which has had the satcure psu upgrade done
