      Need advice!

      Hi

I have an Amstrad digibox which is pretty old, today it started to break up and go very pixilated even though the signal strength and quality was at over 50%
I switched off and on and now there is no signal or quality at all - my dish doesn't appear to have moved, is the box dead?

If so, I haven't a clue what kind of box I need to buy to replace it, some of them say they're for 'freeview' do I need to get a specific box for sky?

      Thanks!

      Mags

If you use a Sky card then you'll need a Sky Digibox. I assume it's just a standard model - not Sky-Plus? You should be able to pick up a used one for twenty quid or less. Try your local "Freecycle" list or newspaper (or eBay, if you are feeling brave). If you have a Sky subscription, you'll have to phone Sky and ask them to activate your card in the replacement Digibox.

      Thanks Martin

I ended up ringing Sky and arranging to have a warranty at 9 per month - someone is coming tomorrow afternoon to have a look; I was told that the price includes replacing the box if necessary, does anyone know whether I'll need to order this or whether the repair man will have one with him?

      Thanks!

      Re: Need advice!

For a flat payment of 65 Sky would have fixed any/all the problems you might have. In fact if you'd have upgraded to HD Sky would probably have fitted you a new free Sky+ HD box and you would have had all the advantages of the record facility plus HD for only 10 each month.

The Sky installer should have a spare Digibox in his van.
