      replacing an old box

      Dear all

trying to help my Mum who had a sky subscription years ago, but has been watching the free channels for a few years without subscription.
now the box is on the blink - can we simply buy a new box (she doesnt want sky + or HD etc)? she would rather avoid a monthly subscription and is happy with the free channels she gets. She is also in a poor area for freeview so thats no go.
I have been told that even if she gets a replacement of some sort she will have to ring sky to register?
also will her viewing card still work?
any suggestions will be gratefully received - thank you.

Yes, just get a replacement receiver from e-bay or wherever you can and plug it in, that should be all you need to do.

Here's a cheap one from a trusted seller but you can get even cheaper ones out there if you look.

i 'think' you might need to match the card with the box but a quick phone call (if needed) would sort this out
just stick the card in and see what happens, youll soon know
