      Warrenty companies

      who do I trust?

my warrenty is apperently coming to an end, cannot remember who I signed up with but I know for a fact that the company that just rang me, were a fake/fraud company.

I asked him twice what company he was calling from, and couldnt make it out then he hung up when I asked him the 2nd time. Wow - customer service was great! (not)

which companies should be the trustable companies to insure the sky+ equipment? Which companies should I watch out for?

      Re: Warrenty companies

Can someone please explain why anyone would pay 84 a year for "Sky Protection", when Sky will send an engineer out to replace a faulty box for 65 ???

Because a single service call is 65 a pop with Sky, say you called Sky 5 times a year that's a total of 325 in total.

A warrenty like the above is a one off payment for unlimited call outs.

      You work the maths out.

      Re: Warrenty companies

Yes, I appreciate that, but in the 24 years that I've had a Sky box, the only time I've had an engineer out (other than for an upgrade) was to replace a faulty HD box, (and that was under warranty).

If I'd paid 84 a year for the last 24 years, that would have been 2016 - enough for at least 10 replacement boxes !

Ah, it's people like you that make the insurance companies so happy!

If Sky boxes failed that often I don't think they would have too many customers left by now.
