      Sky TV

      Hi All,
Today my dad's Sky gave up the ghost (11yrs old) and he rang sky about a replacement, They told him That they not do Sky+ any more only Sky+ HD, He said he not got a HD tv, no problem you can use it as normal and it's Free as long as you take a HD package, Told them thats a waste of time as no HD TV, ok then it's 149.99. Oh he said I'll get back to you.
He just rang me to tell me.
Is this right can any 1 tell me please??

      Re: Sky TV

Sky are pushing out the HD boxes and looking to phase the standard Sky+ out, your dad will have to pay if he wants a box that is no longer being touted to customers.
Best line of attack would be retentions and not customer services, they sometimes offer things that the CS people cannot to try and save a customer leaving.

If your dad has an active subscription to Sky TV, the box should be replaced regardless for the standard 65.

      Re: Sky TV

Yup I would expect there to be a small stock of Sky+ boxes still out there on the vans for swaps, and if they dont' they should start swapping out with HD boxes.

Although given how many duff Thompson HD boxes are out there I don't know if that is such a great thing......

If Sky won't budge there may be Sky+ boxes still avaliable with independant suppliers still who have some in their shops still.

      Thank you all,
I will ring retentions (old box is Sky he never had sky+). He said to me he thought he would have to pay about 100 or under. The problem tho is he's a very stubborn 84 guy and last night his mind was made up to tell sky to go and ........... I told him to hang on cos he got BB with them and if he wanted to stop his dues to sky I would have to get him a new ISP. Not that he use it much but he does speak to the grandkids on msn. Speek to me tomorrow then he told me lol

      Re: Sky TV

You could always pick up an old Sky Digibox on ebay for a few pounds then simply call Sky to pair the 'new' box with the existing Viewing Card.

      Re: Sky TV

Well good ole dad took it upon his self to ring sky and cancel everthing, I don't know how but he also asked for his MAC which will be sent to him. I've now got to sort out a new ISP for him.
wish he would've hung on till i sorted my new isp out.

Don't count on it, if you mention 'cancel' in the same call as 'MAC' there is a good chance that the account will be cancelled before the MAC is obtained. If this happens there is no way you can get a MAC from a cancelled account. There are a couple of members posting at the moment who are in this position.

There is no need to close the thread, you never know, you might want to add something later.
