      SKY into extra rooms???

Having been searching everywhere for an answer but as yet to no avail! Please Help....

My issue is I have Sky+HD box in my lounge which feeds my lounge tv only. I would like to pipe my sky signal around my house to a few different rooms (kitchen, bedroom). I am aware I could extend a coax cable from the RF2 socket at the back of my sky box around the house to one other tv. I am aware I will only be able to view the same sky channel on the extra TV and so would still like to access the built in freeview capability incase the wife doesn't want to watch the football! Is there any way of doing this without unplugging the coax cable from the sky box and plugging in the coax cable that comes from the aerial in the room via a 8 way amplifier and is there a way of getting the sky signal to more than one extra TV. Swapping aerials at the back of the TV isn't an option as they are wall mounted.

If you could help I would be grateful and please explain if there is a solution how the tv would manage to tune in the digital tv channels and the signal from the sky box.

Re route the TV aerial from the 8 way amp, to the Sky box, run a cable from the RF 2 on the sky box to the 8 way amp and all your tv's will have sky on them (same channel) and terrestrial freeview

      Thankyou,

When I retune the TVs the sky channel will just appear as an extra channel among the freeview channels?

No, you will need to tune them into a spare analog channels and then switch between digital and analog for one or the other.

      Hi,

Ive been wanting to do something similar to this with 3 TV's. I currenly have Sky+ in lounge, with an RF2 out and magic eye to TV in bedroom. I have a TV in another room I also wanted to connect so the above looks like it will sort me out - only question is, will a magic eye still work if I go through an amp? If so, will I be able to magic eye both of the remote TV's? If not, is there any was to link up so 2 remote TV's will be able to view from the main box but still have magic eye at both of them?

Thanks in advance for any help.

      Tony

      Re: SKY into extra rooms???

If you buy a global 4 way amplifier, this will allow you to use a magic eye on all four outputs, bit of a pain when fighting with the kids on which channel to watch though

You can get 8 and more outputs if you ever need them, although if you go bigger than 4 I suggest you also power the maplifier with it's own power supply adaptor to save the extra strain on the Sky receiver.

      Thanks

Just found the Global F140 unit - does exactly what I was looking for - I had always been led to beleive before that if you went through a splitter the magic eye wouldnt work so this is fab.

Appreciate the info smithy99 - you've made my weekend!
